Technical Documentation

Twenty years of professional experience producing technical documentation (for IBM, Amadeus, HP, Procurve, and numerous other companies – both in Europe and the US) gave me broad experience with documenting networking hardware, wireless access points, enterprise database applications, command-line applications, RFI/RFP proposals, RFQs, and web applications.

Living and working abroad (in Greece, Italy, Holland, and France) showed me how to adapt myself to diverse cultural settings, each with its own distinctive, subtle (and not-so-subtle) qualities. Contracting as a technical writer taught me to be agile, to quickly fill the gaps in my knowledge, and to find and focus on the task at hand.

I have a firm grasp of the fundamental tools – Framemaker, RoboHelp, Photoshop-Illustrator-InDesign, MS Word, now GitHub, Linux, and Python, and various version control systems – but I also enjoy learning to use and adapt to new applications and technologies (a distinct advantage in this rapidly changing field).
